Joy Green

Joy Paints Large Scale textural watercolours of monumental landscapes. She is fascinated by the fast eroding Paths and cliffs on the North Yorkshire Coast and the dynamic movement of this transitory landscape. Her work explores and reveals the contradictions of a landscape in flux.
Walking is essential to her artistic practice as it allows her to get to know the landscape and its underlying geology is a key to understanding the land and exploring its past.

Her work in rooted in the landscape tradition, exploring Burkes notion of the Sublime and bringing it into the 21st century with modern methods and materials.
